My
name is Chris Ożóg and I’m a teacher trainer and English teacher currently based in Dubai in the UAE. I work primarily on CELTA but also have various other responsibilities working with in-service teachers on professional development programmes. I also do quite a bit of examining, mostly IELTS and Cambridge Main Suite, have this blog and even get to teach sometimes (though less than I’d like).
In ELT, my interest lies fairly and squarely in Dogme and TBL, Basically, anything very very learner-centred, with lots of authentic conversation and absolutely minimal materials. It’s all meaning before form, you see, but with real meaning that real people want to really communicate. I am also very interested in developing professionally myself as a trainer and see reflection as a key component of this.
This blog is simply a collection of my thoughts on various aspects of ELT and language learning as they come to me. Some of it will be practical, some theoretical, and it’ll be semi regular.
I hope you find something interesting or useful and thanks for visiting!
Chris

This is the first blog I’ve ever read, and literally found it illuminating, as a light went on in my head.
Don’t get blinded now, Nick!
Hello Chris. What are your thoughts on the link, if any, between Dogme and TBL?
Also, have you had any experience with using a Dogme approach in EAP?
